• This type of care is most commonly delivered by Internal Medicine and Family Medicine physicians who specialize exclusively in adult health. They have training and experience to handle complex, multi-system diseases common in adulthood and often manage patients with multiple chronic conditions.
• Extended appointments allow for more time spent thoroughly discussing chronic disease, risk factors, management strategies, and time to focus on comprehensive lifestyle improvements in hopes of reducing disease progression.

Traditional Primary Care Clinics

• Internal Medicine and Family Medicine physicians in traditional clinics routinely see a patient every 7-15 minutes. This is required to cover the cost associated with staffing necessary to meet regulatory, coding, billing requirements of the traditional SICKcare model of medicine. It also makes comprehensive evaluation, discussion, and management more limited - often requiring several appointments to address concerns.
• This often leaves patients feeling dissatisfied with the attention they receive, and physicians feeling frustrated with the level and quality of care provided.
